The Women and Children's Affairs Division of the Department of Labour is taking measures to celebrate the Universal Children day falling on 1st of October this year at the Mayurapada National School, Mawanella under the patrongage of Mr.Athauda Seneviratna, the Honorable Minister of Labour Relations and Man Power.

A Medical Camp, will be organized for 200 school children of the Mawanella area under the theme "Let's make ahealthy and wealthy children's world for better tomorrow" and an important seminar is scheduled to be held, addressed by an expert on the subject as well.

In addition, a series of awareness programmes will be carried out at District and Sub office level by the Labour Department island wide on the 1st of October conveying the message that "Employment of children below the age of 14 years is a punishable offence under the law".
