Industrial Safty Division


Vision

Hazard free man, machine and work environment system at work places.

Mission

Improving productivity by eliminating or controlling the industrial accidents and diseases works of the division is decentralized to 8 district officers as given in the Schedule I.

Main Functions of the Division

Enforcement of the Factories Ordinance to ensure Safety Health & Welfare of workers in factories through following activities.

•  Inspection of factories
•  Registration of factories
•  Approval of building plans
•  Investigation of accidents
•  Attend coroners courts
•  Investigation of complaints
•  Institute legal actions
•  Conduct safety awareness programmes
•  Analysis of accidents
•  Appointment of authorized officers

The other important activities  

•  Advisory services for improvement of work environment in factories
•  Participation in national committees with regard to Safety & Health of work personal
•  Safety auditing of factories
•  Preparation of curriculum on Safety, Health & Welfare for educational institutions such as    ICTAD, NAITA, NIBM and NIPM.

Latest levels and trends of the subject  

Achieving hazard free environment through employer employee participation and through providing proper education facilities to both employer & employee. To proceed with such trends actions are in progress to amend the existing safety law accordingly and also by making provisions to establish an Institute of Occupational Safety & Health with capabilities of performing research & training on Occupational Safety & health.
