Settlement by Arbitration
Any worker can make an application direct to a Labour Tribunal independently on termination of employment In case of failure in settlement by conciliation, industrial disputes are referred for arbitration either to the Industrial Courts or to the Labour Tribunal depending on the merits of the case. Applications to the Labour Tribunal should be made within three months from the date of termination of employment.
Supervision of the Payment of Gratuity under the Payment of Gratuity Act No.12 of 1983(as amended)
Necessary instructions and guidelines are given for the determination of payment of gratuity
Termination of Employment Unit
Conducts inquiries into complaints from workmen and applications from employers under the Termination of Employment Act and issues decision under the Act in the form of an order.
Complaints under the Act should be made within three months from the date of termination.

a time period has been set in the form of to 4: 3:2 concept in time period for hearing and determination of inquiries as prescribed under the provisions of Industrial Disputes (Hearing & determination of Proceedings) (Special Provisions)Act No.12 of 2003 (Relevant Table of time periods is attached).
