Registration of Factories under Factories Ordinance No. 45 of 1942

Facility to submit applications and documents via email for registering factories in Colombo District Factory Inspecting Engineer’s Office under Factories Ordinance No. 45 of 1942 is available now.

Instructions for submitting applications for registering factories under Factories Ordinance No. 45 of 1942.

(1) Download the application form through www.labourdept.gov.lk-> downloads-> Applications, Instructions & Guide.
(2) Submit a scan copy of the perfected application with scan copies of documents requested in Section 5 of the application and Business Registration Certificate to dfie.colombo@labourdept.gov.lk.
(3) Specimens of the documents required to be attached are given below.
  1. Site plan
  2. Building plan
  3. Production layout plan
  4. Sketch showing the access roads to the factory
  5. Documents related to ownership or lease agreement
(4) Payment details and the date for collecting the certificate will be notified by the District Factory Inspecting Engineer.
